French feurre < */ˈfɔdru/ < *fōdr.)[2] Its reflexes in Catalan, French, and Occitan show normal outcomes of /ˈɔ/ before /ʎ/. For the Occitan variant orgulh, cf. Gascon hulha (“leaf”)[3][4] < Latin fŏlia. For the /ˈɔ~ˈo/ variation in Italian, cf. loglio (< lŏlium), with /ˈɔ/ in the standard but /ˈɔ~ˈo/ in Central Italy.[5]
