Probably from the same Proto-Algic root as Wiyot rik- (dik-) (three) and Yurok nahkse(C) (three). Compare Proto-Algic *nikhšeme· (thrice, three times), whence Wiyot rikhbé (dikhbé), Yurok nahksemi (three times).
