Unknown. Possibly a Baltic or Balto-Slavic borrowing (compare Bulgarian кълка (kǎlka, “thigh”), Serbo-Croatian kuk (“hip”), and Proto-Slavic *kъlkъ).[1] Alternatively possibly from Proto-Uralic *külke, if cognate with Proto-Samoyedic *kəj.[2]
