Finnish
Etymology
From Swedish Tölö, but it is unclear which language is the ultimate source. If the name is originally Swedish, the name may derive from Swedish töl (“swamp, wetland”), perhaps originally with å (“river”) rather than ö (“island”), or from töla (“to twirl”). If the name is of Finnish origin, it may derive through Swedish from some derivative of työ, such as *Työlöilaksi, derived from työläs + laksi (old form of lahti) and literally meaning "arduous bay", i.e. "bay that is hard to traverse".[1]
