@DerekWinters: Northwest Indo-Aryan languages preserve the r in consonant clusters consistently (e.g. Punjabi ਭਰਾ (bharā, brother) < Sanskrit भ्रातृ (bhrātṛ)), so this is not necessarily a later borrowing. Even the Punjabi cognate is ਅੱਥਰੂ (attharū). I guess Paishachi Prakrit preserved r while Shauraseni didn't, but I agree the breaking of consonant clusters in these cases seems to be a unique development from the rest of Indo-Aryan. —AryamanA (मुझसे बात करेंयोगदान) 21:28, 3 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
