@DerekWinters Alternative form of दुइ (dui)? (or that is a form of this?) —Aryaman (मुझसे बात करो) 20:24, 5 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
- @Aryamanarora Hmm they seem to both be used. Although, दू goes before गो more often than दुई. DerekWinters (talk) 18:36, 7 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
- @DerekWinters: Let's keep it as is then. What about एक (ēk) and एगो (ēgō)? The first one seems rare but I've seen it on some word lists. —Aryaman (मुझसे बात करो) 18:38, 7 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
- I'm pretty sure this shows their connection to Magadhi Prakrit languages. From what I'd seen when looking at Bhojpuri stuff, गो, and especially एगो, are similar in function to the Bengali টা. I think एगो is a contraction of *एकगो. DerekWinters (talk) 18:43, 7 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
- Hmm, makes sense considering it's one of the more eastern Hindi-belt languages. —Aryaman (मुझसे बात करो) 20:52, 7 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
- "/o/ occurs in free variation with /u/. e.g, /du/ vs /do/ “two”" I guess it's a pronunciation variant. —Aryaman (मुझसे बात करो) 21:31, 7 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
- Interesting. I would say that the दो might be Hindi influence. দুই and দুটো/দুটু are the forms in Bengali, which correspond nicely with दुइ and दू गो. DerekWinters (talk) 23:40, 7 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
