Supposed to be "a person from Nazar". I think it is 1) someone from Nazareth 2) Jesus Christ 3) An American version of "Methodist". Greek etymology should, I think, be more like "Nararenos". Anyone know for sure? SemperBlotto¦Talk22:19, 22 October 2005 (UTC)Reply
Dictionary.com has this to say:
n.
1.
a. A native or inhabitant of Nazareth.
b. Jesus.
2. A member of a sect of early Christians of Jewish origin who retained many of the prescribed Jewish observances.
3. A member of an American Protestant denomination, the Church of the Nazarene, that follows many of the doctrines of early Methodism.
I rewrote most of the article, adding the 'Nazareth' and 'Jesus' senses in. (I don't know whether 'Nazar' / 'Nazara' are meant to be the same place, or something different, e.g. Nazar; so I left them as they were but with rfv-sense). I will see further what I can look up on it. —Muke Tever09:42, 1 November 2005 (UTC)Reply
