21,000 google hits and a clear (if uncommon) derivation analgous to dextrous/dexterity are good enough for me. Amazon turns up two books on the subject (one still in print), and I'm pretty sure I've even read it in print (Pinker, maybe) -dmh 05:32, 4 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Etymology
