Is there really a countable term "garlics"? I don't believe I've heard it. When garlic needs to be counted I've only heard "cloves" of garlic. — Hippietrail 8 July 2005 09:55 (UTC)

I should think that garlic plants are garlics. SemperBlotto 8 July 2005 10:57 (UTC)

Wiktionary! Earlier today, I looked at the Latin entry word "allium", which means "garlic", in Wiktionary. I am especially interested in the list of words entitled "descendants". I notice the Occitan (sometimes called "Provencal") word for "garlic" is not included in the list of descendants. It should be included. According to the Wikipedia article "Aioli", the Provencal word for "garlic" is "alh". Lists of descendants or cognates should always include the appropriate Occitan word. Because of its great literary history, Occitan should always be regarded as a major Romance language, which it is! Thank you! (from otrs mail). Amada44 (talk) 22:47, 28 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

We're not 'excluding' Occitan from the list of descendants, just nobody has added it yet. The English Wikipedia alone to me isn't a reliable enough source. Having said that, alh looks about right, I'll see if I can find a primary source for it. Mglovesfun (talk) 22:55, 28 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
