Verb

I use gist as an intrasitive verb, and a "gister" as one who gists? Are these fabications or is the present defintion incomplete? — This unsigned comment was added by 193.128.173.100 (talk) at 20:10, 20 December 2006‎.

Etymology

the present etymology doesnt make any sense. there needs to be an explanation of how it goes from "lying down" in old french to "fundamental idea" in english. it would make much more sense if the word came from the german Geist for "spirit". — This unsigned comment was added by 99.147.195.17 (talk) at 00:12, 21 January 2010‎.
