Tech support desk talks about "a hot issue" when it's one that is being reported by many users (and thus needing an urgent fix). The closest sense we have for this seems to be "popular; in demand", which sounds overly positive. Equinox ◑ 15:06, 7 March 2013 (UTC)

I don’t think any of the current senses include the meaning that ‘hot’ has when one says ‘I was hot on his tail’, ‘he was hot on my tail’, etc. Overlordnat1 (talk) 14:15, 5 November 2021 (UTC)
I just created hot cargo but now realise that "hot" may stand alone in a sentence, like this:

heard what might be this today ... " on the hot" for some boys practicing a sport in the parking lot; that is, the hot top. But maybe it means hot zone and is sport-specific (but i'd expect in then). i will try to find more information. a third noun sense is the hots. —Soap— 13:25, 1 July 2024 (UTC)
