IS morning another word for forenoon? If so, afternoon would be correct. If not, the German translation Vormittag (time from dawn til midday) is wrong. 84.150.39.89 11:48, 30 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Forenoon is from dawn to noon. Noon is 12:00 p.m. Afternoon is from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Forenoon and afternoon are separated by noon. One of the meanings of morning is forenoon (dawn to noon), which is Vormittag. Afternoon is Nachmittag. Morning does not mean afternoon. —Stephen (Talk) 12:23, 30 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
Maybe I'm using it wrong, since I'm not a native speaker, but I would only say Vormittag for the period from about 9 AM to noon, maybe even 10 AM to noon. For me it corresponds more to "late morning" than to the entire period from sunrise until noon. I certainly wouldn't call 5 AM Vormittag, not even in the summertime when the sun has already been up for an hour and a half by then. —Aɴɢʀ (talk) 22:06, 4 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
