Chambers 1908 has an intransitive verb sense "to make trial". That sounds a bit archaic but I suppose it's like proving a thing (verifying the truth)... anyway we don't seem to support this sense intransitively. Equinox ◑ 03:03, 25 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
