@Metaknowledge: Yes, French translated as "pays de merde" (lit.: "shit country") but "merde" doesn't mean "shithole". Taiwan: 國家 / 国家 (niǎo bù shēng dàn guójiā) - "countries where birds don't lay eggs", Japan: 便所よう汚い (benjo no yō ni kitanai kuni) - "countries dirty as toilets". --Anatoli T.
