NISoP: soaked + to the bone. Contrast to soaked to the skin. I believe that to the skin does not often occur with adjectives other that soaked and its near synonyms. But to the bone with figurative sense of bone occurs with close, (cut) down, slashed, worked, chill, bad, cut, stripped, etc. DCDuring (talk) 14:42, 2 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
