- I suspect this corresponds to the existing theatre sense (which in some cases seems to be a solid panel rather than a curtain), although it certainly is an odd definition! I assume the type of stage referred to has grooves in which these panels can slide to widen or narrow the part of the stage that is visible to the audience.
