Neither can be used attributively, which may argue against labelling them as adjectives. However, that is how the Turkish Vikisözlük classifies them both, and so does the German Wikiwörterbuch. Wikipedia calls them “descriptive adjectives”. I’ve also seen them described as (extremely) defective verbs, but that is a bit far-fetched, linguistically speaking. In any case, “determiner” seems completely off the mark. Note that these words can also be used in diverse ways as other parts of speech, like a noun or an interjection, just like English yes and no.  --Lambiam 20:22, 30 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
