Bill Griffiths, editor (2004), “aa, aw”, in A Dictionary of North East Dialect, Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear: Northumbria University Press, →ISBN.
This template may be used in "References" and "Further reading" sections of Wiktionary entries, and on talk pages, to provide a citation to Bill Griffiths's work A Dictionary of North East Dialect (1st edition, 2004). It can be used to create a link to an online version of the work at the Internet Archive.
The template takes the following parameters:
|chapter=
– if quoting from a chapter other than the main text such as the historical introduction, the name of the chapter.|1=
or |entry=
– the entry cited. If the parameter is not specified, the template uses the name of the Wiktionary entry.|2=
or |page=
, or |pages=
– mandatory in some cases: the page number(s) quoted from in Arabic or lowercase Roman numerals, as the case may be. If quoting a range of pages, note the following:
|pages=10–11
or |pages=x–xi
.|pageref=
to indicate the page to be linked to (usually the page on which the Wiktionary entry appears).|column=
or |columns=
– the column number(s) quoted from, either |column=1
or |column=2
. If quoting from both columns, either omit this parameter or separate the column numbers with an en dash, like this: |columns=1–2
.|3=
, |text=
, or |passage=
– the passage to be quoted.|nodot=
– by default, the template adds a full stop (period) at the end of the citation. To suppress this punctuation, use |nodot=1
or |nodot=yes
.{{R:North East Dialect|page=96|column=1|passage=young woman, sweetheart, wife}}
(assuming the template is used in the Wiktionary entry lass); or{{R:North East Dialect|entry=lass|page=96|column=1|passage=young woman, sweetheart, wife}}
; or{{R:North East Dialect|lass|96|column=1|young woman, sweetheart, wife}}
