This template may be used on Wiktionary entry pages to quote Gilbert Burnet's work An Exposition of the Thirty-nine Articles of the Church of England (1st edition, 1699). The template can be used to create a link to online versions of the work at Google Books and the Internet Archive:

• 1st edition (1699).
• 2nd edition (1700).

The template takes the following parameters:

• |edition= – mandatory in some cases: if quoting from the 2nd edition (1700), specify |edition=2nd. If this parameter is omitted, the template defaults to the 1st edition (1699).
• |1= or |chapter= – mandatory in some cases: if quoting from page x (1st edition, 2nd edition), specify |chapter=Preface or |chapter=Articuli Religionis, depending on which section is quoted from.
• |signature= or |sig=, and |verso= – mandatory in some cases: if quoting from the epistle dedicatory (“To the King”; 1st edition, 2nd edition), as it is unpaginated, specify the signature number quoted from, either |sig=A3 or |sig=A4; the former is indicated at the bottom centre of the page, whereas the latter is not indicated. If quoting from a verso (left-hand) page specify |verso=1; if |verso= is omitted, the template indicates that a recto (right-hand) page is quoted. When quoting a range of signatures, note the following:
  • If quoting a range of signatures, for example, "signature A3, recto – , verso", use |sig= or |signature=, and |verso= (if required) to specify the signature at the start of the range, and |sigend= or |signatureend=, and |versoend= (if required) to specify the signature at the end of the range.
  • You must also use |signatureref= or |sigref=, and |versoref= (if required) to specify the signature number that the template should link to (usually the signature on which the Wiktionary entry appears).

You must specify this information to have the template link to the online version of the work.

• |2= or |page=, or |pages= – mandatory: the page number(s) quoted from in Arabic or lowercase Roman numerals, as the case may be. When quoting a range of pages, note the following:
  • Separate the first and last pages of the range with an en dash, like this: |pages=10–11 or |pages=x–xi.
  • You must also use |pageref= to specify the page number that the template should link to (usually the page on which the Wiktionary entry appears).

You must specify this information to have the template link to the online version of the work.

• Page numbers 208–215 are not used; the text is unaffected.
• In the 2nd edition, page 234 is misnumbered as 239 and page 239 as 234; if quoting from these pages, specify the correct page numbers |page=234 and |page=239.

• |3=, |text=, or |passage= – the passage to be quoted.
• |footer= – a comment on the passage quoted.
• |brackets= – use |brackets=on to surround a quotation with brackets. This indicates that the quotation either contains a mere mention of a term (for example, "some people find the word manoeuvre hard to spell") rather than an actual use of it (for example, "we need to manoeuvre carefully to avoid causing upset"), or does not provide an actual instance of a term but provides information about related terms.
