This template may be used in Wiktionary entries to format quotations from Colley Cibber's work Love Makes a Man: Or, The Fop's Fortune. A Comedy. (1st edition, 1701). It can be used to create a link to an online version of the work at Google Books (archived at the Internet Archive).
The template takes the following parameters:
|chapter=
– if quoting from the dedication to William Brownlowe (Sir William Brownlow, 4th Baronet?), the prologue, or the epilogue, specify |chapter=Dedication
, |chapter=Prologue
, or |chapter=Epilogue
respectively. As the dedication is unpaginated, use |1=
or |page=
to specify the "page number" assigned by Google Books to the URL of the webpage to be linked to. For example, if the URL is https://books.google.com/books?id=6VpgAAAAcAAJ&pg=PP3
, specify |page=3
. (The prologue and epilogue are also unpaginated, but the template is able to determine the URL.)|1=
or |page=
, or |pages=
– mandatory: the page number(s) quoted from. If quoting a range of pages, note the following:
|pages=10–11
.|pageref=
to indicate the page to be linked to (usually the page on which the Wiktionary entry appears).|act=
– mandatory in some cases: in most cases, if the page number is specified the template can determine the act number quoted from. However, it is unable to do so if page 24 or 46 is specified, in which case this parameter must be used to specify the act number in uppercase Roman numerals, like this: |act=II
.Act I pages 1–11 |
Act II pages 12–24 |
Act III pages 24–34 |
Act IV pages 35–46 |
Act V pages 46–56 |
|2=
, |text=
, or |passage=
– the passage to be quoted.|footer=
– a comment about the passage quoted.|brackets=
– use |brackets=on
to surround a quotation with brackets. This indicates that the quotation either contains a mere mention of a term (for example, "some people find the word manoeuvre hard to spell") rather than an actual use of it (for example, "we need to manoeuvre carefully to avoid causing upset"), or does not provide an actual instance of a term but provides information about related terms.{{RQ:Cibber Love Makes a Man|page=19|passage=Happy he that ſips Eternally ſuch Nectar dovvn, that unconfin'd may '''Lave''', and VVanton there inſateleſs Draughts of ever ſpringing Beauty— {{...}}}}
(the template can determine the act number from the page number specified); or{{RQ:Cibber Love Makes a Man|19|Happy he that ſips Eternally ſuch Nectar dovvn, that unconfin'd may '''Lave''', and VVanton there inſateleſs Draughts of ever ſpringing Beauty— {{...}}}}
