This template may be used in Wiktionary entries to format quotations from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's work Voices of the Night (1st edition, 1839), which contains "A Psalm of Life" (first published in the October 1838 issue of The Knickerbocker, which is the dating that this template uses), one of Longfellow's most famous poems. It can be used to create a link to an online version of the work at the Internet Archive.
The template takes the following parameters:
