Template:RQ:Raleigh Remains

This template may be used on Wiktionary entry pages to quote from a collection of Walter Raleigh's works entitled Remains of Sir Walter Raleigh (1661); an earlier version (London: William Sheares Iunior, , 1657; →OCLC) is not currently available online. The template can be used to create a link to an online version of the work at the Internet Archive.

The template takes the following parameters:

• |1= or |chapter=, and/or |chaptername= – mandatory in some cases:
  • If quoting from "The Prerogative of Parliaments", specify |chapter=Prerogative.
  • In other parts of the work divided into chapters, use |1= or |chapter= to specify the chapter number quoted from in uppercase Roman numerals, and/or |chaptername= to specify the name of the chapter.
  • If quoting from the dedication "To the King" at the start of "The Prerogative of Parliaments", specify |chaptername=To the King. As it is unpaginated, use |2= or |page= to specify the "page number" assigned by the Internet Archive to the URL of the webpage to be linked to. For example, if the URL is https://archive.org/details/bim_early-english-books-1641-1700_remains-of-_raleigh-sir-walter_1661/page/n282/mode/1up, specify |page=282.
• |date=, or (|month= and) |year= – if quoting from title (such as a letter) which has a specific date, use |date= to specify the date of the title in the format 29 October 1618 or October 29, 1618 which will be converted from the Julian to the Gregorian calendar, or (|month= and) |year= to specify the (month and) year of the title.
• |2= or |page=, or |pages= – mandatory in some cases: the page number(s) quoted from. When quoting a range of pages, note the following:
  • Separate the first and last pages of the range with an en dash, like this: |pages=10–11.
  • You must also use |pageref= to specify the page number that the template should link to (usually the page on which the Wiktionary entry appears).

This parameter must be specified to have the template determine the title quoted from, and to link to the online version of the work.

• The dedication "May It Please Your Most Excellent Majestie" at the start of "Observations, Touching the Trade and Commerce with the Hollander, and Other Nations" does not have page numbers, but specify the pages as |page=161 to |page=164.
• The pagination of the work restarts from 1 in "The Prerogative of Parliaments".

• |3=, |text=, or |passage= – the passage to be quoted.
• |footer= – a comment about the passage quoted.
• |brackets= – use |brackets=on to surround a quotation with brackets. This indicates that the quotation either contains a mere mention of a term (for example, "some people find the word manoeuvre hard to spell") rather than an actual use of it (for example, "we need to manoeuvre carefully to avoid causing upset"), or does not provide an actual instance of a term but provides information about related terms.
