This is the pronunciation template for Old East Slavic words. Every parameter generates a separate pronunciation, based on the respelling given in the parameter. The following special characters are used to specify pronunciation that cannot be deducted from the spelling:
́
(acute accent) Indicates stress̑
(kamora on a consonant) Indicates original palatalisation, that originates from the Proto-Slavic phonemes *ň, *ľ, *ř and *ś; There is no need to indicate palatalisation of the outcome of Proto-Slavic *c, since written <ц> is always soft.̑
(kamora on an <о>) Indicates long /oː/ that originates from a Proto-Slavic *ò with acute intonation. Since this phoneme was always stressed, there is no need to indicate stress on this vowel.ь
Should be used instead of <и> where etymologically expected - the two phonemes were never distinguished in writing if syllable-initial.The pronunciation template should only be added to etymologically normalised spellings. There is no need to specify tense yers in any way, the pronunciation template does this automatically.
