Documentation for Template:sv-adj. [edit]
This page contains usage information, categories, interwiki links and other content describing the template.

This template is used to create the headword line of Swedish adjectives. It only displays the attributive forms, deferring the predicative forms to a (to-be-written) template which displays a full table of forms under its own heading.

This template contains the necessary meta-data to allow users who are using accelerated editing to create any grammatical forms semi-automatically.

Usage

First of all, completely regular adjectives don't need any parameters at all, but otherwise the parameters are as follows:

  • Periphrastic adjectives (i.e. the comparation is done by mer and mest): let the first parameter have the value peri
    on "intressant": {{sv-adj|peri}}
  • Uncomparable adjectives: let the first parameter have the value abs or - (a hyphen).
    on "död": {{sv-adj|-}}, {{sv-adj|abs}}
  • Use the endings -re and -st instead of -are/-ast: let the first parameter have the value of the stem:
    on "gammal": {{sv-adj|äld}}, on "hög": {{sv-adj|hög}}
  • Completely irregular: 1st parameter for the comparative, 2nd parameter for the superlative
    on "liten": {{sv-adj|mindre|minst}}, on "bra": {{sv-adj|bättre|bäst}}
  • Doubles final consonant in comparable/superlative: use alt=<the consonant>
    on "dum": {{sv-adj|alt=m}}
  • When the inflection is not known, use {{sv-adj|?}}, which is the same as {{head|sv|adjective}}, but allows for other contributors to add the inflection more quickly

Variants

If two (or more) variants are needed for a certain form, cf. the following example:
