Medieval

it is gkm Medieval @Catonif. Also Germano. Late Medieval=Early Modern Greek. We study it under Medieval Greek, because a) polytonic 2) too 'oldish' to enter the Modern index of lemmata. The words serve as donors to Modern. see User:Sarri.greek/Somavera#Contents for full links. At wikt:el:Template:R:Somavera i have only the Greek part, so, it has to be redone. ‑‑Sarri.greek  I 20:10, 18 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello, @Sarri.greek! Thank you for your input.
Treating this period of Greek history (from the fall of Constantinople to the fall of Candia) as Modern Greek is in line with the current practice and policies, since Medieval Greek has not been split yet, and the split is what also leads to the postponement of what we consider the beginning of ModG from 1453 to 1669. As the policies and modules currently stand however the end of grc is still in 15th century, so all these sources are not Medieval for now. The split, accompanied with the shift of MedG's end, will imply that entries citing these works will have to be reworked, however just like most entries will have to be reworked, these are not particularly special case.
Now, I personally disagree with the split and with treating '500–'700 vernacular Greek as Medieval, for a number of reasons that it wouldn't be productive to list now, though I chose to abstain from participating in the discussion as I respect your work and know this is important to you, so all I can do now is to conform to the split.
I've noticed you've placed an cleanup request at βρακοζώνα, and I can definitely take it on myself to sort that out once the split goes into practice if you want me to, but as a favour, rather than something I brought upon myself. The entry isn't incorrect, rather handled conforming to the current policies as they stand.
Anyways, get well soon! :) See you around. Catonif (talk) 10:34, 19 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
