It must change the table and eliminate the neuter plural section:

There are only two grammatical genders in Asturian, masculine and feminine nouns (el vinu -masc-, la sidra -fem-). The neuter form of Asturian appears only in adjectivs (and pronouns), because it is a special sintactic mark to differentiate between countable and uncountable nouns. Countable nouns need masc/fem concord (depending on their original gender), but uncountable nouns need neuter concord (regardless of their original gender). Consequently, uncountable nouns have only singular form and, therefore the neuter forms for adjectivs (and pronouns) only have singular form (p.ex. masc. asturianu, fem. asturiana, neut. asturiano; pl. masc. asturianos, fem. asturianes (general endings -u, -a, -o; -os, -es). There is no coincidence between masculine plural and neuter plural, because neuter plurals are imposible:

"vinu blanco": white wine (uncountable, it refers to the drink in general)
"vinu blancu": white wine (countable, it refers to a cup/bottle/... of white wine → it has plural: trés vinos blancos (three white wine)
"sidra fresco": cold cider (uncountable, it refers to the drink in general)
"sidra fresca": cold cider (countable, it refers to a cup/bottle/... of cold cider → it has plural: trés sidres fresques (three fresh cider)

There is no possibility to neuter plurals: *"vinos blancos" (as uncountable), *"sidres frescos". Can anybody change the template? I don't know how to make this to leave the section empty.--Etienfr 16:17, 20 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
