Update

This uses the same style that {{rfc-sense}} did before we updated it. I'd like to see all the in-line rf(something) templates using the same style. Yay or nay? Mglovesfun (talk) 15:37, 24 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sounds good to me to have that kind of consistency, as long as someone is volunteering to take on the task.  :) --EncycloPetey 21:27, 24 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

We have {{defdate}} but no template to request the date of a sense. I wanted to create this but found it was already in use for quote dates, which I find rather unintuitive. So I'd like to move this out of the way so that a new template can be created in its place. Presumably, now that we have much better quote templates which automatically ask for a date if it's missing, a separate template to request a date won't be needed in the future anyway. —Rua (mew) 14:05, 6 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Seems reasonable to me, as long as the current uses are effectively orphaned. There are about 1700 currently, they just need to be wrapped in templates. Anyone who wants to chip in, the category is Category:Requests for date. - TheDaveRoss 14:32, 6 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
I think it would be better for a sense-dating template to have a new/different name, just on the practical ground that people who are used to using rfdate for its current purpose will probably keep using it for that purpose. (It makes some sense, too, in that works usually have specific publication dates, whereas a request that a sense be 'dated' may be much fuzzier or impossible to fulfill.) Or perhaps we should just broaden the display text so rfdate could be used for either purpose? - -sche (discuss) 17:44, 14 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
The new one could be {{rfdefdate}}, I guess? —Rua (mew) 20:10, 15 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
That sounds like the perfect name for it. - -sche (discuss) 23:04, 18 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
