Default English
The default parameter must be 1=English.
For example, {{rfi}} would be understood as:{{rfi|en}}
, without putting "EN" as the default language.
Nowadays:
For example, {{rfi}} produces:
Lua error in Module:parameters at line 647: Parameter 1 must be a valid language or etymology language code; the value "{{{1}}}" is not valid. See WT:LOL and WT:LOL/E.

- @BoldLuis: The Wiktionary community decided that "assume English" was a bad idea many years ago. If someone forgets to add

Requesting animated images, or videos
Just a thought: some (rare) concepts are best illustrated by an animated diagram or a video. We could potentially extend this template with a parameter to indicate that. However, I doubt it's needed, as the "free text" param is probably sufficient for these rare cases. Equinox ◑ 21:10, 26 January 2023 (UTC)
Box doesn't play nice with rhs ToC
Unlike many other request boxes (eg, {{rfe}}, {{rfd}}), {{rfi}} runs the full width of the frame, instead of stopping before the rhs ToC. The result can be seen at Megalopidae. DCDuring (talk) 17:47, 6 February 2025 (UTC)
