Hi, welcome to my Wiktionary user page. I've been a user for over 10 years. I began editing while I was looking up Welsh and found very few entries for Welsh, that can be readily found in other sources.

Languages other than English that I have some knowledge of (currently active in bold)
Current tasks
  • Adding missing Catalan and Welsh vocabulary as I come across redlinks.
  • Fixing existing entries, e.g. where no data has been entered into a template.
  • Improving Welsh content on Wiktionary so it can serve as a resource for learners, as Wiktionary's format is often much more user-friendly than many of the Welsh translating dictionaries. I am doing this by:
    • Linking synonyms
    • Adding Welsh terms under "translations" in the entries for their translations in English
    • Adding Welsh idioms and multiword terms
    • Adding Welsh names of species
    • Adding Welsh vocabulary likely to appear in secondary school science (based on my expertise as a science teacher using a UK curriculum)

Thoughts on Welsh in Wiktionary

In general, existing entries depend overmuch on the Geiriadur Prifysgol Cymru, which is comprehensive but does not give a good idea of Welsh as it is normally spoken in modern times. For this reason (and the fact that the GPC is copyrighted), I believe that Wiktionary entries should refer to other dictionaries in addition to it.

The best resource for zoological and botanical vocabulary in Welsh is Y Bywiadur, which is constantly being updated and really should take precedence over the GPC in defining anything.

Created templates for tastes and anatomy of the head.

Did not create, but improved and added to entries a template for playing cards.

Added several taxonomic categories, including:
