Hi!
If you are bored with learning languages, and think it is meaningless and useless, rethink that and go to Google Earth/Maps, then drop the little man on a place where a language is spoken and try to find a text written in your language which you are learning. Then try to decipher it! Yay!
Of course you can find resources on other places, but better start slow than fast.
- — Me, probably
Anyways, I'm some random Indian Wiktionarian, barely a teen, who <insert some fatal mistake I do all the time>.
If you are reading my page, you likely saw a wrong edit I made, so sorry for that!
Currently, I do not think I will be editing Wiktionary anytime soon. I still access it a lot for my personal linguistics research. If you want, you can post on my talk page and wait a few days.
I am kind of having problems right now, because I really want to learn a new language. However, I do not want to leave my old languages behind.
You see, for example, I can now speak pretty much lots of Dutch right now, but I want to test that. I have no oppurtunity to test my knowledge.
Herefore I have found Wikipedia and Wiktionary. This is finally a place where I can test my language skills.
I used to edit mainly in Garo (I hope that almost all my words added will be understood by a native Garo speaker. I never communicated in Garo and was never sure that the Garo in my head was equivalent to the Garo in real life). Now I forgot some of it (After all, it is not such an accessible language). I am planning to learn new languages later. I would love to make English entries but it seems that you have to get some attested usage of a term to add its article.
The thing that I used to be obsessed with before languages and the thing that kindled my interest in linguistics was writing systems. I still love how mesmerising pieces of art could be made generatively and communicatively in various different systems. However, to be able to authentically generate text in a writing system, I needed to know its language and how to speak it.
In some website called Omniglot, there was an extensive list of writing systems. I made it my goal to master all of them (now it seems quite useless). So there I went, going with the alphabetical order. The first script was called "A•chik" something, and it was used to write Garo, then a complete alien language to me, not even Indo-European. The truth is that that script is not even used that much. It was just created by some guy or group and is not well-recieved. Garo is written more in Bengali.
Nevertheless, I made it my goal to master that first script. As a result, I felt the need to learn its language. Hence, I dedicated my full time to learning Garo from whatever secluded sources.
I did not even master the script. I did not master any further scripts from that list at Omniglot (I have, indeed, learnt other scripts like Arabic) but I "mastered" Garo on the way (at that time).
Right now, I am dedicating my time on acquisition of several languages, rather than the good ol' memorization of grammar (which I loved while it lasted). I still hate school, but right now it is going on quite a breeze since all the other "students" are wasting their time "studying" at midnight, while I am relaxing a bit too much and getting maximum grades at high level Maths, Physics, and Chemistry without "studying".
I have other hobbies too, so I will probably not spend too much time on Wikimedia stuff.
Also, I emerged from the inactive a while ago, and I am still facing the threat being dragged again into the pile of inactive accounts. If that is the case, you can find me somewhere else in the internet (I do not know why you would want that though). I have the same username in Wikipedia, and I name myself SunnyMoon (My intended username) in most other places, including another Mediawiki named Esolangs, and also YouTube (There are many other SunnyMoons in YouTube, however, so I guess I could say that my profile picture is actually a representation of a "SunnyMoon", with 2 craters and a hotspot)
I really want to make entries in other languages including my native language, but I have to first get familiar with creating entries in these languages first. I am trying to learn how to make Dutch entries, but I do not know what to do with that.
Okay, probably not really in a sense "crazy", but they are not really innovating and people can make them in minutes.
A list of languages and scripts I know are on the right side of the screen.
Also, Bengali is indeed my native language, and favourite language (probably next to Sanskrit), but I do not get how native speakers know their languages so well. Surely they speak some sort of variant for their language. That is the case for me. My Bengali is highly unstandardised, and I still say words like "Joli", "Ghumu", and "Mummum" instead of "Jol", "Ghum" and "Khabar" in standard Bengali.
<bruh>
This link is just so that I can create this article, apparently I cannot make it by just searching it up:
