I suppose I'll use this page to write my thoughts.

  • entries in a non-Latin alphabet should be automatically marked for needing transliteration.
  • automatically mark entries for missing any basic information. So mark missing language, missing part of speech, missing word, missing definition, etc.
  • provide options to tailor the random entry button. For example, I might want to view random entries in a particular language. Or I might want to only see lemma forms.
  • make the create new page option more user friendly. Maybe allow people to say they are unsure of part of speech, plural form, and so forth? Also, explain what the language codes are.
  • provide options for what collapsing any part an entry. Obviously most people who use a dictionary need to see the definitions of words. But I'm interested in etymologies, so it would be nice to be able to hide definitions to easily look at the etymology of the same word across different languages more easily. This option might be helpful for others too. And I don't see how it could hurt.
  • relatedly, add option to collapse entire language specific parts for each entry. I don't want to have to scroll through a very long section for a particular language I'm not interested in while trying to get to a different language entry.
  • maybe somehow integrate the use of a defining vocabulary? And ideas about semantic primes?
