Where is there more documentation on this template? Are all these uses sanctioned by the developers, or are large portions likely to be broken? This is pretty amazing stuff. --Connel MacKenzie T C 16:51, 7 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Invitation to contribute

Hi,

You might or might not already be aware that there is now a new system in place for marking translations that need to be checked (those that are suspected of being incorrect or those where it is not clear which sense(s) of a word the translations apply to). (See Wiktionary:Beer_parlour#Translations_to_be_checked_proposal here for the Beer parlour discussion on this topic.)

Translations to be checked are now categorised by language. For example, Category:Translations_to_be_checked_(French) contains a list of all words where French translations need to be checked. This is designed to make the checking of these translations easier to maintain and work with.

I'm contacting everyone who has either expressed an interest in working on translations or has indicated in Wiktionary:Babel that they have a good knowledge of a particular foreign language or languages.

Would you be interested in helping out with the translations to be checked for Esperanto and for German? If so, please read the page on how to check translations.

If you want to reply to this message, please do so on my talk page. Thanks for your help you can provide.

style IPA, style yi

They are, respectively, {{IPAchar}} and {{Hebr}}. (latter is the ISO script code) Please use the standard ones and tag the ones you imported with {{delete}}? Thanks! (welcome again!) Robert Ullmann 14:03, 15 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

formal warning

We do not use templates named "style/xxx". Period. What you are trying to do is not required here; I have no idea what kind of mess exists on the yi.wikt.

If you create/recreate any of these after this warning, they will be deleted on sight, and you will be blocked, as you have been told this repeatedly. Got it?

Are you aware that templates do not have to be in Template: space? That is just the default naming. You can create User:לערי ריינהארט/yid or whatever and use it by name. That is appropriate since they are only for your user page. You could save a very great deal of trouble by simply referring people to your user page on the yi.wikt. Robert Ullmann 13:47, 22 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Do also note that when writing text LTR, like any page here, if you embed a word or phrase anywhere in an RTL script, it works just fine, without any special templates or tags. However, if cut and paste text from a page with wikilinks and templates in an RTL language text, you will get various stray RTL and LTR unicode markers, and you will go slightly nuts trying to make it work.
The trick I usually use is to type the text, and (if pasting) go back and paste the Arabic or Hebrew word in; if typing it all, either key it all in order (ignoring the screen presentation until I am back in LTR, as I don't have Firefox fully set up for that.) So to create a piped link (like on your user page), Like this:

First type ], then paste your name in: ] and the result is: לערי ריינהארט If you tried to cut/paste the link format from RTL text, you may get invisible stray Unicode markers, and the resulting odd effects.

I edited your user page to take out most of the bad template calls so you can see; but the section at the end is full of Unicode bidi markings, and should be re-written in LTR text as I said above. You never need the equivalent of "style/ril" Robert Ullmann 15:00, 22 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

I apologize for coming across somewhat harshly here, but this is the second round of this, it was explained to you the first time, and it has involved several people cleaning up the bad templates. Robert Ullmann 15:31, 22 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
