Hello, welcome to Wiktionary, and thank you for your contributions so far.
If you are unfamiliar with wiki-editing, take a look at Help:How to edit a page. It is a concise list of technical guidelines to the wiki format we use here: how to, for example, make text boldfaced or create hyperlinks. Feel free to practice in the sandbox. If you would like a slower introduction we have a short tutorial.
These links may help you familiarize yourself with Wiktionary:
- Entry layout (EL) is a detailed policy on Wiktionary's page formatting; all entries must conform to it. The easiest way to start off is to copy the contents of an existing same-language entry, and then adapt it to fit the entry you are creating.
- Check out Language considerations to find out more about how to edit for a particular language.
- Our Criteria for Inclusion (CFI) defines exactly which words can be added to Wiktionary; the most important part is that Wiktionary only accepts words that have been in somewhat widespread use over the course of at least a year, and citations that demonstrate usage can be asked for when there is doubt.
- If you already have some experience with editing our sister project Wikipedia, then you may find our guide for Wikipedia users useful.
- If you have any questions, bring them to Wiktionary:Information desk or ask me on my talk page.

many thanks for welcoming me. - Best regards, Caligari 04:40, 28 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
Hey Calignari, thanks for your recent German additions! One small thing to note is that the template {{etyl}}
is deprecated and all instances of its use are being replaced by more modern templates; we use {{der}}
generally the way {{etyl}}
used to be used and in specific instances some related templates (such as {{bor}}
and {{inh}}
) now. For German terms that are formations within the German language itself and do not directly derive from another language, there is no need to use any of those anyway (you can just use {{m}}
then) - if you do, the term will be categorized wrongly as a twice-borrowed term. This was the case with e.g. Rosinenpickerei, which I have since corrected - note my edits to that etymology for reference. Your entry Bocher had some small template issues too; you can see the corrections here: Special:Diff/58068222/58116280. These are however small points, the entries are otherwise pretty much model entries as far as comprehensiveness goes on Wiktionary. — Mnemosientje (t · c) 10:44, 5 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
- Hey Mnemosientje, thank you very much and sorry for causing any trouble. Unfortunately these things happen when you're not very active on this wiktionary. I surely missed a lot of template actualizations. I'll use the new ones from now on. — Caligari ƆɐƀïиϠႵ 13:02, 8 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your comments on the German requested entries. For whatever reason we don't seem to have many active German editors (maybe that just means that de.wikt is more active?). So that requests page is very large. If you have got time to create some of those words then that would be great! Equinox ◑ 02:54, 9 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
- Hi there, Equinox! Sure, that’s what I intend to do throughout the year, anyway … time permitting, of course. — Caligari ƆɐƀïиϠႵ 14:55, 9 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
I don't know much about the guts of templates and tend to avoid editing them. I reposted your question at WT:GP on 30 January; no responses yet. Equinox ◑ 18:15, 10 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
