Welcome to Wiktionary Chimerical05!
Just one thing I wanted to remark about your edits: Don't add a header if you don't add any content belonging to that header. This applies in particular to the 'References' header. Cheers, Ncik 22:16, 31 December 2005 (UTC)
Hi there. We have some templates that you can use in Etymologies - see helot (I have put the Greek in brackets as it's not using Greek letters). Here is the standard welcome. SemperBlotto 17:47, 1 January 2006 (UTC)
Welcome!
Hello, and welcome to Wiktionary. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wiktionarian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk (discussion) and vote pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~, which automatically produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the beer parlour or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome!
Hi there. You can talk to me via my "talk page" (like this one) rather than email - then everyone can see and maybe even learn. You can add entries in, say, Coptic just like this . .
==Coptic== ===part of speech=== headword # translation into English (wikified with double square brackets) ]
The category won't exist yet, but you can create it - use one such as Italian nouns as a crib. I'll be interested to see what they look like. Cheers. SemperBlotto 23:07, 1 January 2006 (UTC)
You seem to be trying to use as little letters as possible in your etymologies. Remember that Wiki is not paper and don't hesitate to write proper sentences without abbreviations. If you delete all the from's from your etymologies it becomes much less clear what is a sequence of derivations, what a sequence of cognates, etc. Always be as precise as you can. Hello, I don't think you can add words from constructed languages like Sindarin, see Wiktionary:Criteria for inclusion#Constructed languages. You may want to ask for advice from other people at the Beer parlour. Thanks, Gerard Foley 01:39, 2 January 2006 (UTC)
Have a look at the above link. You will find lots of information on how to properly format your contributions there. Make sure you get the capitalization of words right. Ncik 03:13, 2 January 2006 (UTC)
You revert a page by clicking on the "history" tab, selecting some past version of the page, clicking on the "edit" tab, and saving it.
Please leave all comments on a user's talk page (like this one) not their user page. Thanks. Ncik 21:53, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
Hi, the normal category naming procedure is to do Category:mg:Animals, no Category:Malagasay animals (as we're referring to the language, not the place). I hope you understand, --Dangherous 23:49, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
ah, thanks Chimerical 00:03, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
Hi, we seem both to be contributing to South African English. Are you South African? I have noticed you use the word Khoe whereas I use either Khoi or Khoisan. Do you think we should standardise? Regards Andrew massyn
Hi Thanks for the feedback. Lets use Khoisan.Andrew massyn
Why did you put hellbroth in Category:Retronyms? Is it a retronym in fact?—msh210℠ 20:17, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
This word is not listed in the AHD (fourth edition); the correct spelling is digitigrade. Be careful not to misrepresent authorities. † ﴾(u):Raifʻhār (t):Doremítzwr﴿ 17:12, 28 September 2009 (UTC)
