Hi Gronky,
your probably right that German Trendsetter and English hipster are not exactly the same, however the meaning of Trendsetter matches perfectly the English definition of hipster, so Iǘe undone your edit. If you feel that this is wrong, then you should probably think about improving the definition at hipster.Matthias Buchmeier (talk) 18:38, 3 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
- Hi,
- Can you tell me where you read a definition of en:hipster that matches de:Trendsetter?
- The definition of Trendsetter on German Wiktionary says someone who causes/unleashes new fashions. And I presume that's correct since that's what the English trend setter means.
- The definition here of hipster is someone who follows fashions. That's almost the opposite. One's a leader, the other's a sheep.
- So it seems clear that my edit was correct. Do you have different definitions of these words?
- (P.S. The wordlist dictionaries on your user page are a great idea.) Gronky (talk) 00:08, 4 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
- My thought was that someone keenly interested in the latest trends would adopt the trends that he likes best and thus ultimately set the trend of the broader masses. But if you look at the articles then hipster refers rather to some special kind of subculture and not about fashion devotees in general.Matthias Buchmeier (talk) 21:34, 4 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
Your account will be renamed
Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Gronky. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Gronky~enwiktionary that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
