Itsekiri is a Yoruboid language spoken in the local government areas of Warri North, Warri South, and Warri South-West of Delta State, Nigeria. Warri, known as Ìwẹrẹ in Itsekiri, is the primary city of the Itsekiri, with Òde Ìṣẹ̀kírì being the capital of their kingdom. This page details standard practice to be followed on all Itsekiri entries.
All letters should be used in page titles, including ẹ, ọ, and ṣ. Tones should not be marked in the page title, however they must be added to the headwordline. High tones are marked with the acute accent (´), low tones with the grave accent (`), and mid tones are unmarked. Words with ṣ should be written as such keeping consistent with the Pan-Nigerian alphabet, words written with ts can be listed under alternative forms. For example, iṣẹ́fà (“key”) should be given an entry, whereas itsẹ́fà should written as an alternative spelling within the iṣẹ́fà entry.
