question mark (Check: R, G, H, W, Y) Would the particle make the cut, question mark? – Minh Nguyễn 💬 07:23, 21 September 2024 (UTC) — @Mxn: I'm afraid not, as this entry was featured as WOTD on 24 September 2020. Do check before nominating. — Sgconlaw (talk) 17:22, 28 September 2024 (UTC)
- @Sgconlaw: Ah, my mistake, I thought each part of speech was considered separately. Thanks for clarifying. Minh Nguyễn 💬 20:03, 28 September 2024 (UTC)
- @Mxn: no worries. We have more than enough nominations of entries for WOTD, so we try not to feature entries which have been featured before unless there is a very good reason (for example, if we were to have a punctuation theme, we might want to feature question mark again). — Sgconlaw (talk) 20:07, 28 September 2024 (UTC)

- @Donnanz: all nominations are archived at pages like "Wiktionary:Word of the day/Nominations/Archive 2020" where the nominators can be viewed. I don't get any credit either for tidying up nominated entries or setting the WOTDs, but I do it as a hobby and don't expect credit. — Sgconlaw (talk) 23:00, 21 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Sgconlaw: OK, thats fine, you don't want it showing in the entries. You deserve more credit than any nominator, of course, it's been a few years now since you took over. DonnanZ (talk) 23:26, 21 August 2024 (UTC)

- : complicity in genocide (Check: R, G, H, W, Y) Par âpre aux astres (talk) 12:53, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
- @Par âpre aux astres: I think this will be too politically sensitive for the Main Page. — Sgconlaw (talk) 22:04, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
- Maybe it's a bit sensitive. But political? Nah. Aaron Bushnell didn't lit himself up by saying "damn liberals!" or "right wing nutjobs!", he said "I do not want to be complicit in the genocide". Look, Israel is at the very least attempting to erase a part or whole of Palestinian population, so it's relevant. This might be sensitive, because it's about human rights, but it doesn't have to be about political alignment as well. Par âpre aux astres (talk) 22:17, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
- @Par âpre aux astres: this would probably be the sort of nomination which, if featured, we get complaints about, so I would generally avoid it. Feel free to discuss the issue at the Beer Parlour if you wish. — Sgconlaw (talk) 22:42, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
- Okay, while I don't agree with, I do understand that why you may want to avoid complaints. One thing though, what kind of complaints are we talking about exactly? Par âpre aux astres (talk) 22:55, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
- @Par âpre aux astres: we get irate messages on the feedback page and elsewhere along the lines of “I can’t believe you’ve featured X as WOTD! Are you leftist/racist/sexist/etc.??” You get the idea. — Sgconlaw (talk) 23:13, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
