Wiktionary talk:Foreign Word of the Day
Title
In the header "Foreign word of the day in ", it seems a bit pointless to link to the Wiktionary definition of lang. Better would be a link to , which has more basic information than most of the definitions do, and also presents all the relevant sub-categories. Ƿidsiþ 10:05, 20 September 2012 (UTC)

Move all subpages of WT:Foreign Word of the Day/Archive to WT:Foreign Word of the Day?
Looking at it now, it seems that it's rather pointless to have a separate subpage just for the archive. They could just as well be put directly under the main FWOTD page. The archive page itself could be merged into this one; there is a little space at the bottom of this page where it would fit perfectly. - I've done the move and fixed all the links and redirects. It does look a bit nicer now, looking at Special:PrefixIndex/Wiktionary:Foreign Word of the Day. But I noticed the actual FWOTD pages are not subpages of the month pages. Wiktionary:Foreign Word of the Day/2012/October 1 is not a subpage of Wiktionary:Foreign Word of the Day/2012/October. Forgot other etymology for March 11
I added hen#Swedish as FWOTD for March 11, but I completely forgot the second etymology, the one with the definition "whetstone". Could some admin add it? I think it would just need a second set of the template with this code:

- The template accepts multiple definitions, but not multiple parts of speech (in a way that won’t look weird). It doesn’t really need to be added though, unless you prefer this definition to be featured instead of the pronoun. — Ungoliant (Falai) 23:07, 9 March 2013 (UTC)

Pronunciation sound byte

- We include them when we can, but it would be unfeasible to expect them all to have one. After all, many of our FWOTDs are in extinct or endangered languages for which it would be difficult or impossible to get a recording of a native speaker. Today's FWOTD, for example, is in Ancient Egyptian, and no one knows for sure how that was pronounced. —Aɴɢʀ (talk) 13:42, 5 February 2014 (UTC)

Why it's too few words on Cyrillic?
There are too few words on languages, which used Cyrillic script. Almost nothing. Almost nothing neither Russian nor another Cyrillic languages. This is a disrespect to all languages on Cyrillic! --Brateevsky (talk) 12:01, 23 March 2014 (UTC)

@Lingo Bingo Dingo There seems to be no word for 16 April yet. Given that it's Holy Saturday, I thought I'd find a fittingly Easter-themed entry for it, and now, rove and ropeellinen are ready to go. - They are nice words, but there is already a Finnish FWOTD set for this month. However, I shall keep those words in mind for coming years.

Foreign word of the day in a specific foreign language?
Might it be possible for a Wiktionary user to specify a language (or two or three) for their "Foreign word of the day" to come up in?
Would be helpful to use the language(s) one is learning, and would likely increase the number of users who care to regularly click on this wonderful feature of Wiktionary.
