Wiktionary talk:Votes/bt-2012-04/User:WarddrBOT for bot status
Per WT:BOT, the bot operator should include in this request for the bot flag "The bot software you'll be using, with pointers to its source and documentation if it's not standard".—msh210℠ (talk) 22:09, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
The default interwiki.py from the pywikipedia framework. Most of the time interwiki.py -new:20 -family:wiktionary -wiktionary -lang:nl - Warddr (talk) 14:49, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for the info. A couple further questions:
What does -new:20 do? I don't see it documented at mw:manual:pywikipediabot/interwiki.py.
Last 20 new pages, -new is 100 last pages, but I plan to run the bot frequently and wiktionary-nl isn't that active, just to reduce server load - Warddr (talk) 16:07, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
Why are you seeking permission here to run a bot on nlwikt?
The interwiki bot runs everywhere, -lang:nl tells the bot to look at the last new pages from wiktionary-nl, and than add links on every wiktionary if necessary. - Warddr (talk) 16:07, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
Are we to assume you mean -family:wiktionary rather than - family:wiktionary?
Indeed, I just wrote this quickly - Warddr (talk) 16:07, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
You say you'd do the above "[m]ost of the time". What else are you planning?
Maybe -lang:Another wiki. - Warddr (talk) 16:07, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
Do you have reason to think the existing interwiki bots (Luckas-bot and VolkovBot) are insufficient?
It's always good to have a backup, the last one seems to be working with -lang:et only. I work with -lang:nl - Warddr (talk) 16:07, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
Thanks.—msh210℠ (talk) 15:50, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
I answered inline. - Warddr (talk) 16:07, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
How does it deal with interwikis for redirects? Mglovesfun (talk) 16:09, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
the -wiktionary option makes sure only to link to pages with exactly the same name, so redirects are not followed. This is all according to the wiktionary interwiki policy. - Warddr (talk) 16:11, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
