Borrowed from New Latin actinobolismus, from Koine Greek ἀκτινοβόλος (aktinobólos, emission of rays) + -ismus.[1] Ἀκτινοβόλος is from ἀκτίς (aktís, ray) + βόλος (bólos, a throw). First attested in the 1650s.
