From an unattested stem of unknown origin, probably with a causative -t suffix. Its unknown stem may be related to the stem of the word family of bolyong (to wander, roam). For the semantic change from “to move, go, walk” to “to make someone do something”, compare buzdít (to encourage, urge) from buzog (to spout, bubble, effervesce; to be overzealous) and indít (to start; to prompt).[1]
