Vietnamese

Etymology

From Middle Vietnamese 𤝞 (chuọt, mouse), from Proto-Vietic *k-ɟɔːt. Cognate with Arem kaɟuət. See also Khmer ជូត (cuut, Year of the Rat) (whence also Thai ชวด (chûuat) through Old Khmer), which is a loan from a Vietic language.

For the "biceps" sense, compare the parallels in Latin mūsculus (muscle, literally little mouse) and Ancient Greek μῦς (mûs, mouse; muscle).

The computing sense is a semantic loan from English mouse.
