From Ottoman Turkish دولك (dölek), from Proto-Turkic *döle-k (“tranquil, sedate, quiet”), *töle-k. Cognate with Chuvash тӳлек (tülek), Chagatai (tölek). Cognate with also Khorezmian Turkic (dölenmek, “tranquility, peace”).[1] (See Proto-Mongolic *döligen).
