Starostin reconstructs Proto-Turkic *dal-g- with unclear meaning. Reflexes of this proto-form are only present in Oghuz languages or as borrowings from them,[1] compare Turkish dalga, Crimean Tatar dalğa and tolqun, Turkmen tolkun.
