eduskunta

edus (“representation”) +‎ kunta. Coined by Finnish folklorist and linguist Daniel Europaeus in 1853. The initial component edus is a noun that is no longer used independently to mean "representation" in modern Finnish; it has been replaced by the derivative edustus.

• As the names of institutions in general, eduskunta is always uncapitalized in Finnish.
