From Proto-Albanian *ende-, from Proto-Indo-European *h₁endʰ- (“way, to go”). Cognate to Ancient Greek ἐνθει̃ν (entheĩn, “to come”) and Sanskrit अध्वन् (ádhvan-, “way”).[1] Possibly related to ἄνδινος περίπατος (andinos perípatos), a phrase attested in Greek, possibly of Illyrian origin.[2] One might also consider a metaphorical derivation of end (“to weave”).
