Etymology

Related to Asturian esmorgar (“to peel nuts”), therefore "to join together for peeling nuts" and "to feast", perhaps from Latin amurca (“residue of olive oil”), from Ancient Greek ἀμόργη (amórgē), from ἀμέργω (amérgō, “pluck, pull”).
