Albanian
Etymology
Borrowed from South Slavic, from Proto-Slavic *kožuxъ. Compare Macedonian кожув (kožuv) and dialectal Bulgarian кожу́ф (kožúf) for the final -f, regional Serbo-Croatian kòžūn/ко̀жӯн for the final -n and Ottoman Turkish غوجوق (gocuk) and dialectal Greek γκοζιόκας (gkoziókas) for the initial g-. The final -p and the medial -xh- likely arose by influence of xhup (“coat, jacket”), variant of xhybe, xhube, xhupe.
