Cognates include Lithuanian band, Proto-Slavic *pojasъ (compare Russian пояс (pojas)), Sanskrit रास्ना (rā́snā, “girdle”) (< *yā́s-nā), Ancient Greek ζῶμα (zôma, “loincloth, drawers”) (< *zōsma < *yōs-ma-).^[1]
