Uncertain. Like many fifth-dynasty pharaohs’ birth names, this name may simply be a diminutive without any meaning of its own. Alternatively, some have tentatively attempted to explain it as derived from the imperative verb jz (“go!”) as an expression possibly uttered by a midwife at the time of birth.
